Out on the leading edge of creation – where spiritual entrepreneurs often hang – faith isn’t always easy to access. Creating a heart-centered business on one’s own terms feels way more risky than showing up for a job every day.
When things appear scary in the world of self-employment, it can feel impossible to find even a scrap of faith.
That’s why the edginess of self-doubt often feels far more familiar to us than the peaceful knowing of faith. When it comes to faith, we typically lfeel its lack way more often than its presence.
It’s time to change that.
Curiously, what we perceive as lack of faith may not be as disastrous as we think it is. In fact, I’m about to give you a simple way to put your lack of faith to rest in 10 seconds or less.
But first, know this: far more damaging than a perceived lack of faith itself are our severe self-judgments about it. Here’s how the mental chatter often goes: we’re flawed because we don’t have faith, we’re ruining our vibrational point of attraction, we’ll never receive what’s in our Vortex, we’re unable to master the art of manifestation, we don’t deserve to manifest what we desire, and in general we suck at the Law of Attraction.
Here’s a spiritual truth that’s very important to know: critical self-talk like this is always a lie. No exceptions.
How can you know this? Because these thoughts always feel terrible! Your negative response to these thoughts is your innate guidance system telling you that what you’re thinking and feeling is not at all in alignment with your soul or Inner Being and its pure positive loving energy.
If lack of alignment always feels bad, and it does, the presence of alignment with spirit always feels good. That’s how the universe was set up so we would always know whether we were in alignment with the universe or not. This knowing what we feel is called our emotional guidance system, according to the Law of Attraction teachings of Abraham-Hicks.
The simplest way to deal with critical self-talk isn’t to fight it or try to fix it with fake-happy talk. Rather, if we recognize that what we’re feeling cannot be spiritually authentic (because it feels bad), that’s often enough to stop the downward spiral.
The turn toward faith begins with the understanding, even if only intellectual, that feeling bad is never in alignment with spirit.
Granted, this understanding won’t necessarily generate faith. All it does is give you a breather from your death-spiral mind chatter. And that’s enough to allow you to take the next step, which is…
Ready? Say: “I choose faith.”
Important: you don’t have to experience a sense of faith or even believe faith is possible in order to choose it. Chances are, you won’t have any actual experience of faith at the time you make your choice. Doesn’t matter. The only thing that matters is choosing it. It’s even OK to say, “I don’t feel any sense of faith right now, but I still choose faith.”
When you tell your suffering, fearful, and conflicted mind that you choose faith, you put spirit in charge of the situation. This is the ultimate act of inner power.
Most of us waste far too much of our precious life force feeling bad that we’re afraid and that we lack faith. All we need to do is make two statements anytime we feel negative emotion and fear about the future.
1. Negative emotion is a sign I am out of alignment with my soul and the universe – my bad-feeling thoughts can never be spiritually true.
2. Even though I’m not even sure I can feel faith, I choose faith.
Yes, a rapid turnaround can be this simple to initiate. But don’t take my word for it.
Just as an experiment, when you notice yourself in fear, (1) remind yourself that fearful thoughts are never spiritually true, and (2) say “I choose faith.”
I’d love to hear what happens next.
