Growing up, Labor Day was a big deal at our house. That’s partly because my mom’s mother, who lived with us, strongly identified with the labor movement.
My grandmother Libby was an independent woman for her time (she dyed her hair! she played cards for money!). She took the train to New York City every day to her job at Gimbels department store.
A staunch supporter of her labor union, Libby drilled into my brain never to cross a picket line.
And she told me stories about the early labor movement, teaching me that workers in industrialized countries had historically been terribly oppressed. The labor movement was their means of claiming freedom and power.
Today as an entrepreneur I often feel like labor and management rolled into one!
Maybe small business is just like that. Or maybe it was the combination of growing up under the influences of socialism (mom’s family) and entrepreneurship (dad’s).
Whatever… But from the time I was old enough to think about jobs, I saw meaningful work as the ideal path to individual freedom.
As I’ve learned from Esther and Jerry Hicks and Abraham, the unfolding of greater personal freedom over time is orchestrated by the universe and co-created by spirit within us. The Law of Attraction is the universal principle through which this unfolding plays out.
So I’m always on the alert for new developments in the area of work freedom.
If you’ve heard me speak lately you know I see our current bumpy economy as a transition leading to greater levels of individual satisfaction through business ownership. That’s why jobs are scarce and corporations are struggling.
At the soul level we’re not the victims of economic upheaval, we’re the co-creators of it!
Whenever I come across a technique or vehicle that seems perfectly aligned with the desire of more of us to express ourselves through meaningful work, I get totally jazzed about it.
That’s exactly what happened when I accidentally discovered the method I call Transformational Blogging.
I realized that blogs aren’t just an easier and less expensive way to create a website. They’re also the perfect platform for spiritual entrepreneurs to connect with their tribe, convey their message, and expand their business.

If you have a business and you’re not blogging, you’re almost certainly missing an amazingly effective way to integrate and synergize all your attraction marketing.
Back to today, Labor Day. No matter what country you live in, or how far along you are on your path of prosperous self employment, celebrate the work you do, and celebrate yourself for doing it.
