“Without gratitude it is impossible to have permanent success” – Rhonda Byrne
Spiritual entrepreneur: What if you could expand your success in 2017 – or anytime – just by tuning into gratitude?
If you’re anything like me, you may already be thinking “wait just a second – this sounds way too simple to actually work.”
As business owners don’t we know that expanding success requires setting goals and taking action? Sure gratitude is lovely and feels wonderful to express – but making it determinant of “Permanent Success”? Really?
I’ve always felt slightly uncomfortable about over-relying on gratitude. As the creator of my own reality, it has made more sense to focus on my preferred thoughts and actions. I’ve viewed gratitude (or as Abraham prefers to say, “appreciation”) as icing on the cake. Without my conscious thoughts and actions inspiring my creations, there would be no cake to appreciate. Or so I thought.
Two weeks ago I bought a lovely journal with a vibrant green cover and decided to write down everything I feel grateful for. I do this first thing in the morning with the goal of writing at least 10 things on my list.
It’s never difficult to record what I’m grateful for. But at first it was pretty slow. The partner, the home, the ability to serve others, health, family, friends, pets current and past – all were wonderful to appreciate.
However, I felt somewhat on auto-pilot listing these things and noticed I was missing a sense of truly profound gratitude.
Until Day 5. That’s when writing my list suddenly connected me to a deep well of gratitude that I now understand lives inside my heart.
It took 5 days for my new list-making habit to get my brain fully tuned-in to gratitude and for my heart to open sufficiently to experience the heart-brain connection.
On Day 5, I also began to take more notice of the small miracles blessing my life every day.
I found the misplaced passport I’d spent weeks searching for. I saw the most spectacular sunset. After many months of attempting to find an expert and reliable house cleaner, fabulous Lisa came into my life…
It’s not that writing a list of what we’re grateful for instantly vaporizes the difficult, sad and frustrating things in life.
It’s more that focusing our thoughts and emotions on our gratitude and blessings – even if only for 10-15 minutes a day – attracts more circumstances to appreciate and feel blessed by.
The repetition of remembering gratitude and blessings every day brightens and uplifts our thoughts and emotions. You end up creating an entirely more abundant and blessed point of attraction that aligns you with more of everything you desire for your life and your business.
As Abraham-Hicks likes to remind us: problems and their solutions arise simultaneously. We just have to align ourselves with the solution to receive it.
Now that I’ve witnessed how quickly the universe responds to my written rampages of appreciation, I truly look forward to this morning writing practice. Deliberately choosing to notice and acknowledge the blessings in my life is more uplifting than I would ever have imagined and creates a loving, grateful start to every day.
Once again the Law of Attraction has surprised me into experiencing how easy life is supposed to be for us. How simple it is for us to align with the Universe and join the downstream flow toward all our heart’s desires. How unnecessarily difficult we make things for ourselves because of old habits we can easily release by opening to gratitude.
What if you could expand your success in 2017 just by taking a little time every day to identify and write down what you feel grateful for?
Would you be willing to engage in this practice for the next 10 days — just to discover what might happen? Leave me a comment… let me know what you think and what happens if you decide to write your gratitude list. Happy new year!
